Fly-through Sheffield Innovation Spine

A first for Sheffield, this video captures 190-acres of Sheffield Innovation Spine - an energised urban innovation district in Sheffield city centre. Fly the length of the Spine in just 4 minutes, passing through five mixed-use neighbourhoods, Landmark Innovation Hubs, development sites, research assets, businesses and collaboration spaces. The Spine is live and this is Sheffield's moment.

Sheffield Innovation Spine connects five mixed-use neighbourhoods across 190-acres in Sheffield city centre: Station Campus, Castlegate, West Bar, Cathedral Quarter and St George’s. The Spine clusters businesses, specialist spaces, research assets and innovation communities within these neighbourhoods, building on their existing character and assets; designing for density within Sheffield’s urban innovation district.

Neighbourhoods are home to Landmark Innovation Hubs – the places where people collide and ideas spark.  Hubs are innovation community centres - hot spots for events, accelerator and incubator programmes and specialist facilities. Hubs promote collaboration, build networks and connect opportunities for knowledge-led businesses to startup and grow. Sheffield Technology Parks, Pennine Five and Sheffield Innovation Centre are Landmark Innovation Hubs within the Spine.

Our neighbourhoods are dynamic in nature, culturally diverse, each neighbourhood is at a different stage of its development and regeneration journey – they are defined by people and how people experience their place.  As such, the Spine champions the curation of informal meeting points, green public spaces and street level animation – whilst directly pitching investment opportunities in those all-important specialist lab and workspaces for spinouts, startups and scaling knowledge-led businesses to cluster in Sheffield city centre.
