Open Doors 2026 – Points Challenge and Prize Competition 

Competition Terms & Conditions 

1. Promoter 

The competition is organised by Sheffield Science Park Company Ltd.

2. Event and competition period 

The Open Doors 2026 points challenge takes place on 20 October 2026 as part of the Open Doors event in the Sheffield Innovation Spine district. 

Participants can use the Spine Guide app to scan NFC tags located in participating buildings. Each successful scan earns points towards their event score. 

3. Eligibility 

Entry is free. No purchase is necessary. 

Participants must have access to the Spine Guide app to take part. Participants must be 16 or over.

4. How to participate 

Participants can scan NFC tags at participating buildings using the Spine Guide app. Each successful scan earns points according to the scoring rules implemented in the app. 

Participants may optionally provide a display name to join the leaderboard. Providing a display name is not required to scan NFC tags or earn points. 

Participants who also provide an email address will be entered into the prize competition. 

Only successfully recorded scans will count towards a participant's score. The Promoter may investigate suspected duplicate, fraudulent or otherwise invalid scans. 

5. The leaderboard 

Participants who choose to join the leaderboard by providing a display name may have their display name and points score displayed on the Open Doors leaderboard. 

Participants should choose a display name that does not disclose personal information they do not wish to make public.  Please choose a leaderboard name that is suitable for all audiences. The Promoter reserves the right to remove or disqualify any offensive or inappropriate names.

The Promoter reserves the right to investigate suspected manipulation of scores or other attempts to undermine the fair operation of the competition. 

6. The prize and winner selection 

One £100 gift card will be awarded to the eligible participant who achieves the highest valid score in the competition. 

If two or more eligible participants share the highest valid score, the winner will be selected at random from those participants. 

The Promoter's decision on the validity of scans and the final scores will be final, subject to applicable law. 

The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered, unless required by law. The gift card will be subject to any applicable terms and conditions imposed by its issuer. 

7. Winner notification 

The winner will be contacted using the email address provided for the competition. 

Participants are responsible for providing a valid email address and ensuring that they can receive messages at that address. 

If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within one month, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner using the same scoring and tie-break rules. 

Email addresses will not be used for marketing purposes. 

8. Fair participation 

Participants must not attempt to manipulate the scoring system, submit fraudulent scans, interfere with the app or NFC tags, or otherwise undermine the fair operation of the competition. 

The Promoter reserves the right to exclude entries or disqualify participants where there is reasonable evidence of cheating, fraud, abuse or a breach of these Terms & Conditions. 

9. Technical issues and changes 

The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to ensure the points challenge operates as intended but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of the app, NFC tags or network services. 

The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the competition where reasonably necessary due to circumstances beyond its control, technical problems, suspected fraud or other exceptional circumstances. Any changes will be communicated where reasonably practicable. 

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. 

10. Personal data 

Personal data collected in connection with the leaderboard and prize competition will be handled in accordance with the Spine Guide Privacy Policy. 

Display names will be used solely for the leaderboard. Email addresses will be used solely to contact the winner about the prize. 

The Promoter's processing of personal data for the administration of the leaderboard and prize competition is based on its legitimate interests in operating the points challenge, maintaining the leaderboard and awarding the advertised prize, as explained in the Privacy Policy. 

All personal data submitted for the Open Doors 2026 feature will be deleted on 20 December 2026. Participants may request earlier deletion by emailing participation@sheffieldinnovationspine.com Requests will be actioned within 48 hours. 

11. General 

The Promoter's decisions regarding the administration of the competition will be final, subject to applicable law. 

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory legal rights. 

By entering the prize competition, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.
