Open Doors is a city-centre-wide festival for curious people to experience our urban innovation district on 20 October 2026, following the Spine Guide app.

Seven venues here in Sheffield Innovation Spine are to open their doors to the public, celebrating the groundbreaking ideas, technology, and people shaping the region’s future.

Sheffield Innovation Spine is the official fringe partner for TECH SY’s Northern Tech Summit, bringing a dynamic three-day event series to the city from 20–22 October 2026. 

The fringe programme will complement the two-day-long summit hosted from Sheffield’s iconic Crucible Theatre on Tuesday 21st and Tuesday 22 October.   

Sheffield Innovation Spine brings together innovators, investors and enablers from across science, engineering and technology ecosystem, for a conversation about the Sheffield opportunity and the economic impact of the city's urban innovation district.

Sheffield Innovation Spine plugs directly into a powerful peer-to-peer ecosystem of place-based leaders; dedicated to sharing best practices, driving inclusive innovation and leading the national conversation on innovation-led economic growth.

A major summit designed to strengthen connections across the North’s technology ecosystem is coming to Sheffield this October.

During a recent tour led by Project Director Charlotte Thompson, civic leaders, educators, and industry partners explored how collaboration can create clear pathways into well-paid careers. A key focus was on engaging T-Level students through real-world business interactions, helping to build trust with employers while showcasing the value of emerging talent.
