Pixel-Flo
Founded in 2025 as a University of Sheffield spinout, Pixel-Flo develops a new manufacturing process called Continuous Flow Mass Transfer for microLEDs, aiming to make this technology more cost-effective for mass-market displays.
Rinri Therapeutics
Rinri Therapeutics is developing regenerative cell-based therapies for sensorineural hearing loss. Their lead product, Rincell-1, aims to restore auditory function by replacing damaged neurons with stem cell-derived alternatives. A University of Sheffield spinout, Rinri is preparing for its first human trial.
PHAST
Founded in 2024, PHAsT produces biodegradable and compostable bioplastics using bacterial fermentation. Their polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) offer a sustainable alternative to fossil-derived plastics, supporting industries from packaging to medical devices. The business secured £2.5 million in Series A funding in April 2025.
LIMITSTATE
LimitState makes smart software that helps engineers design safer and more efficient structures. Founded in 2006 by experts from the University of Sheffield, the company simplifies complex calculations so engineers can quickly understand how buildings, bridges and other structures will perform. Their acclaimed tools are now used in over 30 countries, from construction firms to universities.
