Phlux Technology
A spinout from the University of Sheffield, Phlux Technology develops breakthrough infrared sensor technology. Their innovations are transforming autonomous vehicles and driver-assistance systems. In 2023, Phlux secured £4M in funding from Octopus Ventures and Northern Gritstone, and is leading a €500,000 European Space Agency project to enhance satellite communications.
Exciting Instruments
Founded in 2021 as a University of Sheffield spinout, Exciting Instruments builds platforms for single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy. Their cloud-based tools automate analytics to support drug development, diagnostics and scientific research, making powerful lab technologies more accessible worldwide. In November 2024, they secured a £4M seed funding from Northern Gritstone.
FourJaw Manufacturing Analytics
FourJaw was founded as a spinout from the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in 2020 and is transforming manufacturing productivity through machine analytics. In October 2023, FourJaw raised £1.8M seed funding from Mercia and the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, supporting their mission to help manufacturers unlock performance insights, reduce downtime and improve efficiency across the shop floor.
