The Sheffield Innovation Spine is a thriving, connected community of scaling businesses, co-locating in world-leading facilities in Sheffield city centre.
Our city is recognised for its startup culture and was named best place to start a business by StartUps in 2022. There is a wealth of science and technology research expertise located here. We are building on this momentum and improving existing infrastructure to create the right environment to grow, attract and retain the very best businesses and talent.
UNLOCKING A ROUTE FILLED WITH POTENTIAL FOR BUSINESS GROWTH
The Sheffield Innovation Spine arcs through the northern section of Sheffield city centre, curving from the University of Sheffield’s main campus to Tenter Street and West Bar, then down to Riverside and Castlegate before heading south to the Sheffield Digital Campus, Sheffield Hallam University’s City Campus, and the station.
We are actively expanding access to lab space and workshops along this route, while accelerating pathways into the expertise of our universities. Beyond the buildings, new public spaces, cafés and meeting areas are already emerging, helping to knit together the Innovation Spine and spark creativity.
