We are building on market momentum
Sheffield is gaining serious traction. We ranked 5th in the UK—and 1st in the North—for equity deals from university spinouts last year. Pre-seed and seed investment is rising, creating a pipeline that’s set to drive rapid growth in venture funding over the next three years.
The Sheffield Innovation Spine is already a magnet for founders and scaleups committed to Sheffield—people choosing to cluster here to lead innovation and drive change.
sheffield city centre is changing.
The Sheffield Innovation Spine builds on regeneration well underway. The completion of the Council’s £470m flagship Heart of the City development, the first phase of the £300m West Bar project owned and managed by Legal and General, our universities have invested in the quality and scale of their city centre campuses, and we have development underway in Castlegate and Fargate.
Sheffield City Council and Homes England are collaborating on 20,000 new homes in the city centre. Homes England has already agreed £67m for the neighbourhood at Furnace Hill and Neepsend in the north of the city, paving the way for 1,300 new homes and commercial space. New neighbourhood plans have been developed for Moorfoot - a key city centre location - and the Sheffield Station Campus.
